Job Summary

Own regional communications and engagement for NC ROOTS, shaping a unified strategy, coordinating multi-stakeholder campaigns, and ensuring consistent brand and media relationships that move participation and trust across NC counties.

  • Design and execute campaigns that raise awareness and participation in NC ROOTS initiatives.
  • Lead internal and partner communications to keep hub leadership and regional teams aligned.
  • Maintain a consistent NC ROOTS brand across materials and manage local/statewide media relations.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement a regional communications and engagement strategy aligned with NC ROOTS goals and timelines.
  • Design and execute community-facing campaigns to increase awareness, trust, and participation in NC ROOTS initiatives.
  • Lead internal communications to ensure alignment across Hub leadership, regional teams, and sub-awardees.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent NC ROOTS Hub brand identity across all materials and platforms.
  • Manage relationships with local, regional, and statewide media.
  • Associate’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, or a related field and three years of experience leading strategic communications or multi-stakeholder communication strategies in healthcare, public health, or community-based initiatives; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, or a related field and one year of experience leading strategic communications or multi-stakeholder communication strategies in healthcare, public health, or community-based initiatives; OR
  • Equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must reside within North Carolina.
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Experience working with Medicaid programs, managed care, or state/federal initiatives.
  • Experience supporting large-scale program implementation or system transformation.
  • Familiarity with North Carolina’s healthcare and community landscape.
  • Experience with grant-funded programs and compliance-driven communications.
  • Typical working hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm; flexible work schedules with some roles with management approval.
