Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and internal teams to develop creative marketing strategies and campaigns that increase visibility, community engagement, leasing opportunities, fundraising support, and awareness of HALX’s work.
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials, presentations, signage, digital assets, and communications consistent with HALX’s brand and voice, to enhance brand awareness and leasing lead generation.
  • Support press materials, announcements, and other communications as needed.
  • Track marketing, website, social media, leasing, and outreach activity and prepare basic reports on engagement and results.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and research that communicate marketing performance, organizational impact, and HALX’s role in broader housing and community conversations.
  • Identify stories, resident experiences, development projects, accomplishments, and community opportunities that can be translated into compelling marketing content.
  • Maintain HALX websites content, updates, and edits, while ensuring site health, accessible navigation, and maximizing user engagement.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to phone, email, website, and social media inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate team.
  • Develop engaging content for social media, websites, newsletters, email campaigns, and other digital platforms, highlighting resident life, community events, affordable housing resources, neighborhood amenities, development activities, and organizational accomplishments.
  • Maintain a content calendar and coordinate digital campaigns supporting leasing, community engagement, fundraising, and organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience in marketing, communications, digital content creation, public relations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and platforms.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, social media platforms, content strategy, and audience engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience creating digital content, including social media, photography, video, email marketing, websites, or other digital communications.
  • Confident and engaging public speaker who can represent HALX professionally with residents, community partners, elected officials, business leaders, and other audiences.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities independently.
  • Commitment to supporting Housing Alexandria’s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred

  • Spanish proficiency highly preferred.
  • Comfortable with various responsibilities, including day-to-day administrative tasks and big-picture strategic projects, which may evolve.
  • Experience aiding individuals and groups facing difficulties such as economic disadvantage, unemployment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, disabilities, prevention, health, cultural competencies, and inadequate housing.
