Job Description
The Managing Director, Corporate Growth develops and leads CFP Board’s strategies for building relationships with targeted financial services firms, generating new business, driving growth of new CFP® certificants and generating revenue from targeted firms to support CFP Board’s programs, events and initiatives. This individual will manage key firm relationships directly and lead a team that oversees other accounts. The Managing Director, Corporate Growth collaborates closely with the leaders of program development, workforce, finance, development, diversity, marketing and communications, and research.
Essential Functions
- Recruits,developsandretainsa high-performing team of client-centricaccountand deeply collaborative account leadersand ensures their accountability toachievinggoals.
- Develops andimplements results driven strategies for engaging key financial services firms to promote and support CFP ® certification for their employees in furtherance ofCFPBoard’s short and long-term goals.
- Understandsfirmbusinessobjectives, challengesand market trendsand developstailored,strategic counsel and solutionsthatleverageCFP Board data,programsand initiatives to mutual benefit.Plans should include specific goals,timelinesand workplans to meet those goals.
- Cultivates and sustains robust relationships with key firms, acting as their primary contact for all inquiries, concerns andneeds for his/her own accounts and ensuring members of his/her team do the same for their accounts.
- Identifiesopportunities for upselling and cross-selling, working in close collaborationwith theDirector of Development,program development, workforce,finance and marketing and communications teams.
- Servesas amember of the Executive Leadership Team thatsetsthe organization’s strategic direction.
- Serves as the subject matter expert to executive staff aboutthefinancial planning ecosystem,business models,trends, keyinfluencersandanticipatedimpact of contemplatedstandards’changes.
- Develops,implementsand oversees systems and infrastructure to support firm engagementobjectives(both on encouraging CFP ® certification and fundraising) and reporting, including setting,trackingand reporting on metrics, relationship management, understanding variances and makingdata baseddecisions.
- In partnership with the Director of Development,determinesand advances firmdevelopment/sponsorship opportunitiesto achieve development revenue goals for organization.
- Attends industry events and conferences to build and strengthen relationships with key financial services firmsand generate new business leads.
- Communicatesimportant updates,changesand CFP Board initiatives to firmsin a timely manner,solicitingfeedback whenappropriate.
- Oversees contentpertaining tofinancial services firms at CFP Board conferences and eventsto ensure growing participation by key firms in the industry.
- Identifies,advancesand supportsopportunities for engagementof CEO with key firm leadership.
- Manages the department’s budgets, including developing financial proposals and budget reports and monitoring expenses and accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Background/Skills/Abilities Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; graduate degree preferred
- CFP® certificationstronglypreferred
- Minimum 10years’ experienceinaccount management, preferably in a financial services B2B environment
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Strong executive presence
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive results and overcome obstacles
- Track recordof earning trust from senior-level executives at large and small financial services firms
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability toidentifyand address client needs effectively
- Proventrack recordin account management, with a focus on strategic relationships building and revenue growth
- Knowledge of financial planning profession trends, marketdynamicsand best practices in account management
- Demonstrated political acumen and emotional intelligenceand ability to synthesize input from a variety of interests into a coherent strategic agenda
- Ability to conceptualize, interpret and use market research to advance business strategy and to make sound business decisions based on data
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and people simultaneously and follow through on issuesin a timely manner

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with other departments
- Exceptionaloral and writtenpresentationskills and equally strong listening skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software
- Ability to travel for client meetings and industry events asrequired

This position is based in the Washington D.C. office and works a hybrid schedule which could be changed at any time.

Compensation for this role will reflect a range of factors, including relevant experience, demonstrated expertise, and other considerations. CFP Board is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The applicable starting annual base salary is anticipated to be in the range of $240,000 to $260,000. In addition to base salary, total compensation includes incentive compensation for which employees are eligible based on completion of individual goals. Additionally, CFP Board offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employees’ well-being and growth.
