Responsibilities

• 1. Strategic Marketing Planning & Campaign Development • Co-develop and build, under the leadership of the Director of Brand Communications, Codman's annual marketing and communications strategy and integrated marketing priorities. • Translate organizational, service-line, community engagement, advancement, patient growth, and health equity priorities into clear marketing objectives, audiences, positioning, key messages, channel strategies, and measurable outcomes. • Develop integrated marketing campaigns for priority services, programs, initiatives, events, and organizational priorities across digital, social, email, print, radio, community, and other appropriate channels. • Develop campaign briefs, timelines, audience profiles, messaging frameworks, creative concepts, channel plans, and calls to action that provide a clear strategic roadmap for execution. • Identify opportunities to increase awareness, engagement, patient access, community participation, and trust through targeted and culturally responsive marketing. • Monitor marketing trends, audience behavior, community needs, and emerging opportunities and recommend strategies that strengthen Codman's reach and relevance. • Partner with internal leaders and subject-matter experts to understand business and program objectives and translate them into compelling, audience-centered communications.
• 2. Brand Strategy, Messaging & Positioning • Help strengthen and evolve Codman's brand positioning and ensure that communications consistently reflect the organization's mission, values, voice, and commitment to health equity. • Co-develop messaging platforms and campaign narratives that differentiate Codman and clearly communicate the value of its services to patients, families, community members, partners, funders, and other audiences. • Serve as a strategic resource to departments on messaging, audience engagement, campaign development, and communications planning. • Ensure consistency of core messages and visual/verbal brand standards across campaigns, collateral, digital channels, events, and community-facing communications. • Anticipate reputational or communications issues and elevate potential concerns to the Director of Brand Communications with recommended approaches.
• 3. Digital, Social Media & Audience Engagement • Lead the strategic development and execution of Codman's social media strategy, including editorial planning, content development, audience engagement, and campaign amplification. • Develop and maintain an integrated editorial/content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, health observances, campaigns, community events, service promotions, and timely opportunities. • Develop engaging digital content for patients, prospective patients, community members, staff, partners, and other stakeholders across appropriate platforms. • Use digital channels strategically to support patient education, service awareness, community engagement, outreach, and organizational storytelling. • Monitor audience engagement, comments, questions, and emerging issues and coordinate appropriate responses or escalation. • Work with the Director of Brand Communications and external vendors/partners, as appropriate, to optimize digital campaigns, paid social, search, email, and other digital marketing efforts.
• 4. Content Strategy, Storytelling & Marketing Materials • Develop, write, edit, and/or oversee production of high-quality marketing and communications materials, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, annual reports, campaign materials, media kits, presentations, digital content, email communications, signage, and other collateral. • Develop patient- and community-centered stories that demonstrate Codman's impact, services, people, partnerships, and role in the community. • Develop content strategies that identify the right message, audience, channel, timing, and call to action rather than simply producing individual pieces of content. • Coordinate with creative resources, vendors, photographers, videographers, and other partners to ensure high-quality execution and alignment with strategy and brand standards. • Develop email and digital communications that support engagement, education, outreach, and organizational priorities, including audience segmentation where appropriate.
• 5. Community Marketing & Outreach • Develop strategic marketing approaches that connect Codman's services and priorities to the communities it serves, with particular attention to culturally responsive and hyper-local engagement. • Support planning and promotion of community events, health education initiatives, service launches, outreach activities, and other public-facing opportunities. • Partner with program and clinical teams to develop outreach strategies that effectively reach priority populations and communicate services in accessible, relevant ways. • Identify community partnerships, events, media opportunities, and other channels that can expand Codman's visibility, credibility, and engagement.
• 6. Integrated Communications & Cross-Functional Partnership • Work closely with Advancement, Clinical Operations, Community Health, Human Resources, Executive Leadership, and other departments to align marketing and communications with organizational priorities. • Engage staff as communicators and ambassadors by developing internal communications tools, messaging, and opportunities that help staff understand and support major organizational initiatives. • Coordinate communications across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels to create cohesive campaigns and avoid fragmented messaging. • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, establishing priorities, timelines, responsibilities, approvals, and deliverables to ensure timely execution.
• 7. Measurement, Analytics & Continuous Improvement • Establish meaningful objectives and performance indicators for marketing campaigns and communications initiatives. • Track and analyze campaign performance, audience engagement, digital activity, reach, conversion, and other relevant metrics. • Translate data and audience insights into recommendations for improving messaging, targeting, channels, timing, and campaign performance. • Prepare concise campaign and marketing performance updates for the Director of Brand Communications and other leadership stakeholders. • Build repeatable processes, templates, calendars, and workflows that make Codman's marketing function more strategic, efficient, measurable, and scalable.
• 8. Strategic Project & Vendor Management • Lead or coordinate marketing communications projects from strategy through implementation, including scope, timelines, deliverables, approvals, and evaluation. • Coordinate with external agencies, media partners, freelancers, and other vendors as assigned, ensuring work is aligned with strategic objectives, brand standards, timelines, and available resources. • Support media planning and paid marketing initiatives by helping develop objectives, audiences, messaging, channel recommendations, creative needs, and performance measures. • Help assess marketing tools, platforms, partnerships, and opportunities that could improve Codman's ability to reach and engage priority audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in strategic marketing, communications, integrated marketing, digital marketing, brand engagement, public relations, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns, preferably in a healthcare, nonprofit, community, public-sector, or mission-driven environment.
• Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to connect organizational goals to audience needs, messaging, channels, tactics, and measurable outcomes.
• Excellent writing, editing, storytelling, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated digital and social media expertise, including content strategy, audience engagement, and campaign development.
• Experience using marketing and communications analytics to evaluate performance and inform strategy.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and community engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across levels and functions.
• Strong cultural competency and demonstrated ability to develop communications that are respectful, inclusive, accessible, and responsive to diverse communities.

Preferred

• Haitian Creole and/or Spanish language skills a plus.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office preferred; familiarity with digital marketing, email marketing, social media, analytics, and content management platforms strongly preferred.
