Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and strategic Major Gifts Officer to join our dynamic fundraising team. In this pivotal role, you will lead efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Your energy and relationship-building expertise will drive significant growth in our donor base, enabling us to expand our programs and impact, increasing annual giving to support NLOM’s programs and ministry.
Duties
1. Donor Portfolio Management & Growth
a. Manage a portfolio of donors giving over $1,000 annually
b. Solicit annual financial support from donors through direct asks
c. Develop and implement individualized engagement strategies to retain, upgrade, and deepen donor relationships
d. Conduct regular and proactive outreach through phone calls, meetings, email, and personalized communication
e. Identify and pursue opportunities to increase donor giving and long-term engagement
f. Track donor interactions and engagement in the donor database in a timely and accurate manner
2. Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
a. Build meaningful relationships with donors to strengthen their connection to NLOM’s mission and impact
b. Coordinate and execute personalized stewardship efforts, including thank-you calls, notes, and impact updates
c. Ensure donors receive timely, relevant communication and recognition
3. Pipeline Development & Donor Advancement
a. Identify and qualify donors with the capacity and interest to increase their level of giving
b. Partner with the Development Associate: Events and Partnerships to engage donors through events and sponsorship opportunities
c. Support strategies that move donors through the giving pipeline from mid-level to major gifts
4. Collaboration & Team Alignment
a. Collaborate with Development team members to align donor strategies and ensure a cohesive approach to fundraising
b. Support fundraising campaigns and organizational initiatives as needed
c. Partner with Marketing to ensure donor communications are aligned with organizational messaging and priorities
Professional Expectations and Requirements
- Two to four years of fundraising experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree required
- CFRE or Master’s Degree preferred
- Ability to be flexible in overnight travel
Skills
1. Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills
2. Comfort with asking individuals to make financial commitments in support of NLOM
3. Experience in fundraising, sales, or customer relationship management
4. Ability to manage a portfolio and prioritize outreach effectively
5. Highly organized with strong attention to detail
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
8. Experience with donor database systems (Bloomerang preferred)
9. Enthusiasm and passion for the mission of Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries
10. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Pay: $53,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
