To assist in actualizing our mission, we seek a qualified Library Social Work ( LSW ) Manager. In this role, you will develop, deliver, and manage LSW programs in Louisville. In addition, you will oversee the Library Social Work Fellow Program, which is part of a unique partnership between the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky and Louisville Metro Free Public Libraries. The position’s job responsibilities are as follows:
Systematic Management of Social Work in Libraries

• Identify, create, and sustain liaison relationships with libraries and community referral resources for Louisville Libraries patrons. Track, monitor, and report trends in needs being presented by patrons to libraries. Work with library staff to learn about challenges that need to be addressed, with specific attention to vicarious trauma concerns. Examine library systems, policies, and practices from a social work lens for improvements, and collaborate with library staff on specific plans for implementation of improvements, in alignment with partnership planning overseen by UK CoSW. Formal reporting structure includes metrics tracking, formal bi-weekly and quarterly reports, and ad hoc reports as requested by UK CoSW and/or LFPL .
• Contribute to College of Social Work course development, presentations, and written materials related to partnership and Library Social Work.
  

Training

• Support library staff through preparing and providing trainings and important information on managing community needs through the library environment, with specific attention to vicarious trauma support. Collaborate with subject experts and community organizations to create sustainable support structures for patrons and staff. Provide this support to all employees of Louisville Free Public Library system, by maintaining a presence at each branch. With Main serving as primary work location.
  

Social Work Supervision – Non-Clinical

• Develop and oversee implementation of Social Work training program, including maintaining a collaborative relationship between Louisville Free Public Libraries and the College of Social Work.
• Supervision, instruction, and support lead for any social work practicum students within the Louisville Library system. Oversight of their activities and outcomes. Provide appropriate feedback on ways to improve professional development, lead performance evaluations, and relate tasks to competencies. Provide feedback to CoSW on additional information needed in course work for social work students, related to library perspective. All work in this area is expected to follow established academic protocols and best practices.
