Job Description

Investor Relations Consulting Associate: Financial Modeling & Analytics for MedTech Companies

Location: Hybrid; candidates based in the U.S. Eastern time zone, within a reasonable distance of ICR's Baltimore, MD, New York, NY, or Norwalk, CT offices.

Introduction to ICR

ICR is one of the most highly regarded investor relations and corporate communications consulting firms. Founded in 1998 by former Wall Street analysts, ICR's capital markets orientation runs through the firm's DNA. Our work sits at the intersection of investor and public relations, helping companies tell a credible, cohesive story that supports long-term shareholder value creation.

Position Description

ICR Healthcare is seeking an Investor Relations Consulting Associate focused on financial modeling and analytics to join a team of two senior client managers advising private and publicly-traded medical technology companies.

Our practice is built around a distinct, highly informed and analytical approach to IR advisory.

As a member of our team, you will be working daily across Excel, PowerPoint, FactSet, and Claude Enterprise. This is a genuinely Excel-intensive role. Strong candidates will have strong Excel skills and have (or want to build) real fluency in financial modeling, a healthy skepticism toward data that doesn't look right, and the initiative to investigate and resolve potential discrepancies/issues. The ideal candidate does not simply tolerate working in Excel/detailed financial models; they enjoy and want to spend a substantial portion of their day on this, take pride in precision/attention to detail, and desire to enhance their skill set and the quality of the files they work on.

Additionally, we are looking for tech-savvy candidates with a genuine interest in AI and a desire to develop/enhance their capabilities in the use of Claude Enterprise to improve our team’s projects, processes, and deliverables.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Update proprietary earnings and consensus financial models: fully-integrated, dynamically linked “working models” that tie together the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance models, improving efficiency, comparability, standardization, and functionality.
  • Integrate Excel model output/detail into client-ready, standardized, and company-branded deliverables. Create presentations and reports for current and prospective clients (using Excel, PowerPoint, FactSet, and Claude Enterprise).
  • Assist with conducting investor perception audits, including aggregating and categorizing quantitative and qualitative survey responses from investors and sell-side analysts, synthesizing findings, and preparing reports on results in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative diligence and monitoring on clients and their competitors/peers. Prepare summaries as needed to keep clients informed of competitors' financial and operational developments.
  • Conduct ad-hoc research on MedTech public companies' practices related to specific investor relations and financial disclosure topics. Develop related summary materials to help inform the team and our clients.
  • Develop a growing fluency in using AI tools (Claude Enterprise) and financial concepts together to execute the team's work more effectively and responsibly. Identify opportunities to apply Claude Enterprise and/or lightweight coding/automation to improve the speed, consistency, and quality of the creation of team/client deliverables.
  • Maintain rigorous file organization, documentation, and version control across team files/documents.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4; please include your GPA on your resume.
  • True proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint. To be considered for this position when applying, please include your favorite Excel keyboard shortcut at the bottom of your resume.
  • Understanding of GAAP and Non-GAAP financial reporting concepts preferred.
  • Relevant internship experience preferred, such as finance, investment banking, equity research, FP&A, or similar roles. Full-time experience in these areas is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with FactSet (or similar capital markets data/research platforms) a plus.
  • Genuine interest and/or hands-on experience with AI tools and/or coding languages (e.g., Python, VBA) is a significant plus. We're looking for someone who wants to help us apply AI to improve our processes and client deliverables (not just tolerate it, but actively push on it).
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, paired with real intellectual curiosity.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and sustained diligence on detail-intensive, sometimes repetitive work, without losing rigor.
  • Ability to manage multiple client deliverables and deadlines concurrently, communicating proactively about progress and roadblocks.
