Responsibilities

• - Generate original content for the website, blog, monthly newsletter, email marketing and social media, among other editorial or marketing materials
• - Storyboard and edit short, compelling videos for distribution on social media and inclusion in newsletters and website
• - Curate news articles and stories relevant to Meridian’s mission to post on social media platforms and invite conversation and interaction with our online community
• - Support live coverage of events*, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X, photography, videography
• - Responsible for completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meeting all organizational administrative deadlines
• - Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• - Be a current undergraduate or graduate student in the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism
• - Commit 16-20 hours per week to the internship
• - Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
• - Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills, with knowledge of AP style
• - Excellent storyteller with the ability to curate, create, write, edit and publish compelling multimedia content
• - Ability to identify stories and elements with viral potential, and analyze data to accelerate digital audience engagement
• - Familiarity with multimedia production and editing, photography, Canon products, copywriting and editing, social media content presentation and delivery, Salesforce, Pardot, and basic HTML preferred
• - A highly motivated self-starter with superb communication and organizational skills, and high attention to detail
• - A team player with the ability to follow through on long-term projects and to work independently
• - Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world

Preferred

• Experience with Canva, Zoom and Salesforce is helpful
