Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assist in researching, drafting, editing, and distributing public information materials across television, radio, print, and digital platforms.
  • Provide on-site media support at City events for social media purposes.
  • Develop communications content including press releases, newsletters, brochures, and social media posts.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned with the Mayor’s priorities.
  • Capture and edit photo and video content to support City communications and promotional efforts
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance public engagement.

Requirements

  • strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create and adapt content across print, digital, and broadcast platforms.
  • comfortable supporting events and capturing real-time social media content, while developing engaging materials such as press releases, newsletters, and posts.
  • detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to ensure consistent, accurate messaging.
  • experience or familiarity with photo and video content creation, bring a creative approach to public engagement, and be organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with the completion of at least six (6) college credit hours in related coursework.
  • Candidates must also be actively enrolled in an accredited college for Fall 2026.
  • Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
  • To be eligible to apply, current City employees must have completed their probationary period and attained certified status in their current position.
