About Collidascope

Collidascope is a forward-thinking art & technology collective focused on developing immersive, theatrical, narrative-driven experiences for a new artistic medium: Unrestricted VR.

Learn more about us here: https://linktr.ee/collidascope

While Virtual Reality offers immense potential for creative expression and storytelling, accessibility issues currently limit its widespread adoption and full creative potential. Our mission is to solve these challenges for both creators and audiences, accelerating high-budget artistic productions in this exciting new format.

The average consumer struggles to enjoy VR at home. Headsets are expensive (and quickly outdated), and the experience is confined to a single user at a time. Tight living rooms and furniture restrict movement, while controller-based navigation requires mastery and can cause nausea—ruining the immersive experience and limiting the audience to seasoned gamers. With so many competing home entertainment options, widespread adoption will be slow and capped. Drawing inspiration from world-class immersive exhibits like Meow Wolf and teamLab, we believe bringing VR out of the living room and into large, roamable spaces will expand both its reach and impact.

Accessibility is also a challenge for artists. High equipment and software costs, combined with the multi-disciplinary skill sets required, create a significant barrier to entry for talented creators. As a result, only established digital studios have the resources to explore VR's potential. We aim to bridge this gap by bringing together both technical and non-technical creators from various disciplines, empowering them by simplifying the process & tackling common technical challenges ourselves, and providing them with an engaged and appreciative audience.

Join us in shaping the future of immersive art.

Role Description

Collidascope is seeking a Video Director / Videographer / Editor to lead the creation of high-impact video content across social media, marketing, partnerships, and sales.

This person will own the video pipeline end-to-end: developing concepts, planning shoots, directing and capturing live-action footage, coordinating the extraction of in-engine footage from Unity, and editing polished final assets that make our work look as ambitious and cinematic as it feels in person.

This is not a “just edit some reels” role. We are looking for someone with strong visual taste and production instincts who can help define how Collidascope shows up on camera and online.

Core Activities

  • Lead the creative planning and execution of video content for marketing, social media, brand storytelling, and promotional campaigns
  • Develop concepts, shot lists, storyboards, and production plans for both one-off videos and repeatable content series
  • Plan and direct IRL shoots featuring our installations, team, behind-the-scenes process, audience reactions, and artistic vision
  • Capture high-quality live-action footage using professional camera, lighting, and audio equipment
  • Coordinate with Unity developers to source, stage, and capture in-game footage that complements live-action content
  • Ideally, navigate Unity independently to capture footage, frame shots, and export visuals without needing heavy engineering support
  • Edit short- and long-form video content for channels such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, pitch decks, sponsor outreach, and event promotion
  • Create compelling edits that blend real-world footage with in-engine content in a way that clearly communicates our experiences and brand
  • Manage post-production workflows including assembly cuts, motion graphics, color correction, sound design, captions, formatting, and export
  • Organize and maintain video assets, project files, and reusable footage libraries
  • Collaborate closely with founders, artists, and developers to translate abstract immersive experiences into clear and exciting video storytelling
  • Help establish a strong, recognizable visual language for Collidascope across content formats

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in videography, directing, and video editing
  • Ability to independently plan and execute shoots from pre-production through final delivery
  • Excellent editing instincts, pacing, and storytelling judgment
  • Proficiency in industry-standard editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, or similar
  • Experience operating cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for polished on-location shoots
  • Strong eye for cinematic composition, movement, tone, and performance
  • Ability to work collaboratively across creative and technical teams
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple footage sources and edit versions
  • Clear communicator who can translate creative goals into production plans
  • Excitement about immersive storytelling, emerging media, and creative technology
  • Experience with Unity, including scene navigation, camera setup, timeline tools, or Cinemachine
  • Experience capturing gameplay, in-engine footage, or real-time rendered content
  • Motion graphics or compositing experience
  • Experience creating content optimized for social growth and paid marketing
  • Familiarity with immersive experiences, installation art, XR, game development, or experiential marketing
  • Comfort working in early-stage, collaborative, fast-moving creative environments
  • Experience building repeatable content pipelines for a brand or creative studio
  • Basic photography and photo editing skills
  • Experience directing talent or non-actors on set
  • Familiarity with analytics and performance feedback for social content
  • Degree in Film Production, Digital Media, or a related field is a plus, but not required

Compensation

Collidascope is a pre-revenue startup with big dreams. As such, this is a part-time, unpaid role in which you will get stock equity as compensation, with possibility for profit-sharing and outcomes-based bonuses. We understand not everyone has the privilege to accept such a role, so we want to be upfront about that.

Why Join Us

This is an opportunity to help define the visual language of a new artistic medium. You will not just be documenting a project—you will be shaping how audiences, collaborators, and partners understand the future we are building.

If you are excited by cinematic storytelling, emerging technology, immersive art, and building something that does not fit neatly into an existing category, we’d love to hear from you.
