Head of Organic Content (Sr. Director)

Reports to: Co-CEO | Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000

About MoneyGeek

We are a startup on a mission to educate our users and get them to their financial happy place by providing best-in-class content and tools that connect them to the right financial products and services. Making money decisions is tough. It's complicated. It's emotional. We are here to help. Whether it's finding the right insurance coverage or best mortgage rates, we provide the information and tools to help consumers make smarter decisions. Personal finance education has been overlooked for too long, and MoneyGeek is here to change that.

The Role

MoneyGeek is looking for a Head of Content to lead our content organization and take our insurance and personal finance coverage to the next level. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Co-CEO. You will set the editorial vision, partner with vertical leads on the content roadmap, and build a team and culture around producing content that genuinely helps users make better financial decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and lead a 15-person content organization, setting direction, managing performance, and building a high-quality team culture
  • Establish and enforce editorial quality standards and repeatable production processes across the content org
  • Review content output and provide clear, constructive feedback to writers, editors, and content managers to continuously raise the bar
  • Track and own key performance metrics including search rankings, organic traffic, and user engagement, using data to inform editorial decisions
  • Design and run A/B tests on content styles, formats, and approaches to systematically improve content performance over time
  • Collaborate with the data team on insurance product ranking methodologies and comparison frameworks
  • Work with the product team to enhance interactive tools like coverage calculators and quote comparison features
  • Leverage AI tools thoughtfully to improve content quality and publishing efficiency, without sacrificing depth or originality

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of experience in an online content role, with at least a few years in a leadership capacity
  • A strong editorial eye for content that simplifies complex financial topics and genuinely connects with users
  • Deep experience in financial content; insurance vertical experience is a strong plus
  • A sophisticated SEO skillset, with a track record of optimizing content for search while preserving a great user experience
  • Practical experience using AI as a productivity and quality tool, paired with a firm stance against generic, low-effort AI-generated content
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort working in a lean, fast-moving startup environment

Nice to Have

  • Insurance industry certifications such as a Property and Casualty License, Life and Health License, or CPCU designation
  • Familiarity with U.S. insurance regulations and state-specific requirements
