The Matchbox Remote | Full-Time
The Matchbox is looking for a Head of IT to own our technology infrastructure end-to-end. You'll manage Google Workspace, user access and security, troubleshooting, and IT strategy across multiple business entities — with the autonomy to prioritize what matters and the judgment to find the right solution, not just the fast one.
This is a highly autonomous role. You'll set the roadmap with our exec team, make the priorities and the roadmap, and be trusted to offer solutions that align with our business goals.
5–15 hrs/month. $35/hr

WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Google Workspace administration — user provisioning, deprovisioning, groups, permissions, and org structure
- User access & identity management — onboarding/offboarding, role-based access, SSO/MFA, credential and permissions audits across Okta, Slack, and 1Password
- Paid media platform access — managing user access and permissions across Google Ads, Meta Business Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and other ad platforms as our agency scales client accounts
- Security infrastructure — configuring and maintaining our security compliance(access policies, tunnels, device posture, network security)
- Troubleshooting — macOS, software, and connectivity issues across the team, with a bias toward fast resolution
- Security & compliance — maintaining and improving our security posture, access controls, and compliance with relevant data/privacy standards
- Multi-entity IT management — supporting distinct branches/business units with different tools, teams, and needs
- Project prioritization — triaging incoming requests and ongoing initiatives based on business impact, not just urgency
- Research & solutioning — evaluating new tools and approaches, and recommending (or building) the best fix rather than the first one
- Documentation & process improvement — maintaining IT documentation, identifying recurring issues, and building better processes proactively

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Proven experience managing IT for a multi-entity or multi-branch organization
- Deep hands-on experience with Google Workspace administration and the broader Google ecosystem (Workspace, Google Ads, GA4, GTM, Google Cloud/BigQuery a plus)

- Hands-on experience with Okta, Slack, and 1Password administration
- Experience with startup culture and SaaS
- Strong track record in user access management and security compliance
- Strong working knowledge of macOS environments
- Comfortable working independently — you don't need a ticket queue to know what to do next
- Ability to forecast project prioritization, deadlines, and milestones
- Strong troubleshooting instincts across a range of systems, not just a single stack
- A researcher's mindset: you dig into a problem before proposing a fix
- Clear communicator who can explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
