Job Summary

Drive integration and control of large-scale new generation technologies within BPA's energy transmission system, with policy, criteria, and regional input.

  • Own criteria, processes, rules and practices for integrating and controlling large-scale new generation technologies and dynamic movement of power into BPA's overall energy transmission system.
  • Review current and proposed criteria applicable to generation and other advanced control systems, analyze control area performance, and design and implement improvements and corrections to meet regulatory and BPA requirements.
  • Must-have: Engineering degree and specialized experience in developing criteria for generation technologies and control systems.

  • Own criteria, processes, rules and practices for integrating and controlling large-scale new generation technologies and dynamic movement of power into BPA's overall energy transmission system.
  • Review current and proposed criteria applicable to generation and other advanced control systems, analyze control area performance, and design and implement improvements and corrections to meet regulatory and BPA requirements.

  • BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor’s degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of seven areas of engineering science/physics (statics/dynamics; strength of materials; fluid mechanics/hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; materials properties; and another advanced area). OR Combination of Education and Experience with various acceptable paths including professional registration (EI/EIT/PE), FE examination, or other specified coursework or related curricula.
  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level [GS-12], defined as: (1) assisting in developing criteria, rules, and processes for integrating and controlling new generation technologies; (2) reviewing current and proposed criteria applicable to generation and other advanced control systems; (3) analyzing control area performance to design and implement improvements and corrections to meet regulatory requirements.
  • You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Education: This vacancy has a positive education requirement. You must provide copies of your college transcripts. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
