Job Description
Company Description
Neal.fun is the home of some of the most-shared interactive experiences on the web — Infinite Craft, The Password Game, Stimulation Clicker, Internet Roadtrip, and more. Built by Neal Agarwal, these projects have been played millions of times and have a habit of going massively viral.
Role Description
- Neal.fun is hiring its first full-time developer. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with Neal building new neal.fun projects from scratch, as well as adding features and maintaining the existing catalog.
- The role is genuinely all of the above: some projects start with Neal's idea and need someone to execute it; some will be built together; and the right person will pitch ideas of their own that are worth making.
- What matters is the ability to take something half-formed — a weird concept, a one-sentence brief, a gut feeling about what would be fun — and make real decisions to bring it to life.
- This is a full-time role. Ideally you're based in New York City; we'd love someone who can work in person, though hybrid is workable for the right candidate.
Qualifications
- Strong web development fundamentals
- Experience building interactive, game-like, or creative web experiences
- Comfortable picking up new tools and languages as projects demand.
- You can take a vague creative brief and make real technical decisions to bring it to life
- Self-directed — this is not a heavily managed role. You'll need to drive your own work.
- Genuine curiosity about what the web can do. You have opinions about interactivity, feel, and polish.
- NYC-based or open to being in NYC — in-person preferred, hybrid considered for the right person
Nice to have:
- Experience with game development, physics engines, generative systems, or multiplayer
- Familiarity with neal.fun's catalog — you've played the games, you get the sensibility
- An instinct for what makes something feel good to interact with, not just functional
To Apply
- Respond to this post with the following:
- A project you've built (link or demo), plus a sentence on what you were going for
- Your take on neal.fun: pick any game from the catalog and tell us what makes it work technically or creatively, in a few sentences
- Something you'd want to build: a brief description of a neal.fun-style project you've had in your head. Doesn't need to be fully formed.
