Responsibilities
- Shoot vertical (9:16) video and photos for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
- Work the room: get honorees, performers, and guests comfortable on camera, and set up natural, shareable moments
- Capture quick “one word” reactions from attendees, candid backstage moments, and arrivals
- Follow a provided shot list while staying alert for unscripted moments
- Hand off all raw footage at the end of the night or within 24 hours
Requirements
- Strong social skills. You can approach strangers, read a room, and make people relax on camera.
- A working understanding of what performs on Instagram and TikTok
- A smartphone that shoots 4K, plus knowledge of how to use it (stable framing, clean audio, low-light awareness)
- A portfolio, Instagram, or TikTok showing event or people-focused content
- Professionalism in a formal venue, comfortable working discreetly during performances
- Black or dark attire
Preferred
- A gimbal or phone stabilizer
- An external mic for your phone
- Editing skills for short-form video
- Familiarity with jazz or live music events
- Optional: edit for the LA Jazz Society
