Job Description

Responsibilities

  • direct and manage the Chancellor’s comprehensive executive communications portfolio, including written, digital, and media-facing communications.
  • The Director provides strategic counsel, prepares executive messaging, oversees the Chancellor’s public and digital presence, and coordinates media engagement in partnership with University Relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in executive communications, speechwriting, media relations, or strategic communications.
  • Demonstrated experience directly supporting senior executive leadership in a complex organization.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex institutional issues into clear and compelling messaging.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Experience in higher education, government, or similarly complex institutions strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated political acumen, discretion, and executive-level judgment.
  • Experience serving as a principal speechwriter for a president, chancellor, CEO, or comparable executive.
  • Experience managing executive social media presence and media engagement.
