Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned to business goals, reputation priorities, and stakeholder needs.
  • Manage crisis and issues management: lead preparedness planning, scenario mapping, and rapid response; coordinate cross-functional teams; develop holding statements, FAQs, escalation protocols, and post-incident debriefs.
  • Create industry-specific programs and storytelling that highlights BNY’s capabilities, solutions and role in the financial ecosystem; positioning leaders on relevant industry topics and at high-profile forums.
  • Manage a team of external communications professionals in setting and implementing the external communication strategy by identifying and pursuing key opportunities that advance and protect the company's reputation.
  • Bring new ways of using AI, data and analytics to the role to increase efficiency and insight as well as potential response strategies.

Requirements

  • Experience: 12–15+ years of corporate communications experience with a proven track record in media relations and crisis/issues management; experience in financial services industries strongly preferred.
  • Network: strong media relationships and an understanding of what stories will and will not resonate with media.
  • Demonstrated success: building and protecting corporate reputation: securing tier-one coverage, managing complex issues, and guiding executive spokespeople through high-stakes engagements.
  • Robust writing and editing skills: Exceptional storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex topics into clear, compelling narratives across formats (press materials, speeches, social posts, executive remarks)
  • Basic AI literacy and comfort with a vision for the future of the function - monitoring for anomaly detection, sentiment shifts, and misinformation tracking; maintain human oversight to judge context and reputation risk
  • Adaptable: can manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and establish processes that scale.
  • Proven leadership in leading and mentoring teammates, managing agencies and cross-functional initiatives; adept at senior-level stakeholder alignment and executive influence.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
