Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Director of Communications and Marketing develops and oversees an integrated communications strategy that promotes the goals, values and the mission of the school or division consistent with the strategic communications objectives of the university.
  • S/he oversees design and development of high quality, effective materials, publications and messaging, develops and oversees website, electronic communications and social media strategies.
  • This individual presents reports on overall communications strategies and determines future directions.
  • S/he manages communications budget, hires, trains and manages staff as well as consultants and vendors and develops strategic and on-going communications work plans.
  • The Director of Communications provides marketing and public relations expertise and planning for division/school faculty, administrators and other constituents and represents the interests of school or division in all relevant university-wide committees and working groups.
  • Researches, writes and oversees the production of high-quality, effective communications materials which support communications projects and strategies for school/division
  • Manages the creation, design and layout of publications which reinforce brand and message strategy
  • Oversees the development of design and content for website; ensures compelling website appeal and works with web developer on enhancements and new applications
  • Develops and oversees content for social media communications; evaluates effectiveness and makes decision about improvements and new initiatives
  • Presents reports on overall communications strategies; evaluates results and proposes future directions and strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area of study
  • 10 plus of professional communications experience

  • Advanced degree
  • Experience in higher education
