Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all communications and development functions, aligning efforts with the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Develop and implement an integrated communications and fundraising strategy to increase visibility, engagement, and revenue from diverse funding sources.
  • Design and execute a comprehensive donor strategy, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, and institutional donors.
  • Expand and diversify the donor base by building meaningful relationships and strengthening donor engagement and retention.
  • Identify, pursue, and grow grant opportunities, including overseeing proposal development, submission, and reporting processes.
  • Cultivate and manage partnerships with corporate sponsors, foundations, and community stakeholders to support programmatic and organizational growth.
  • Lead the development of compelling messaging, campaigns, and storytelling that effectively communicate the organization’s impact and inspire support.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent branding, messaging, and alignment between communications and development initiatives.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of communications materials, including digital content, social media, newsletters, annual reports, and donor communications.
  • Establish and maintain efficient, sustainable systems, processes, and workflows that support fundraising operations, donor tracking, and communication efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, fundraising, or development, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing integrated communications and fundraising strategies.
  • Proven track record of securing and growing revenue through individual giving, corporate partnerships, and grants.
  • Experience expanding and diversifying a donor base, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
  • Strong grant writing and grant management experience, including proposal development and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including managing and developing staff and/or cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with donor databases/CRM systems and communications tools (e.g., email marketing platforms, social media).
