Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Monitor conversations and tracking relevant figures across social media platforms using social listening tools (Sprout Social, Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Meltwater, or similar)
  • Develop and continuously update complex Boolean search logic across a wide range of issues and industries
  • Work to compile up to date author indexes for relevant tracking and monitoring
  • Track and analyze competitor activity, campaign performance, and industry trends to identify opportunities and threats
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports on brand health metrics including share of voice, sentiment analysis, engagement trends, and audience demographics
  • Identify emerging trends, viral content, and cultural moments relevant to our clients' industries and target audiences
  • Conduct audience research to understand consumer behavior, preferences, pain points, and content consumption patterns
  • Analyze engagement patterns across platforms to determine optimal posting times, content formats, and messaging strategies
  • Monitor hashtag performance and track campaign reach to measure organic and paid social impact
  • Flag potential PR issues, customer service concerns, or reputation risks identified through social monitoring

Requirements

  • Recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Data Analytics, Media Studies, or a related field
  • Experience with basic Boolean search logic and research methods is preferred
  • Natural curiosity about public affairs, consumer behavior and what drives online conversations
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and extract meaningful insights from large datasets
  • Experience with social listening or social media analytics tools preferred (Sprout Social, Brandwatch, Hootsuite Insights, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data organization and analysis
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, Reddit, Bluesky, YouTube) and their unique audiences
  • Excellent written communication skills for translating data into clear, compelling narratives
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot nuanced shifts in sentiment or conversation themes
  • Self-starter who can work independently while managing multiple monitoring projects simultaneously

Preferred

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio) is a plus
  • Understanding of SEO, content marketing, or brand strategy is beneficial
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing social media landscapes
