Job Description

To provide customer service and specialized information; assist individuals in securing services, permits or licenses; perform related work.

The successful candidate will provide customer service and specialized information; assist individuals in securing services, oversee and coordinate work for a crew of Print & Mail employees; receive, distribute, and process mail; perform related work.

This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadwork/training
Oversees mail service functions and workload.
Trains new employees on mail service functions, equipment, and procedures.
Coordinates the interview and hiring process and provides recommendation of candidates for employment.
Drafts preliminary appraisal information and provides managers feedback for employee performance evaluations.
Monitors delivery schedules and resolves schedule problems.
Provides work direction and ensures compliance with appropriate delivery and mailing deadlines.
Maintains accounting system including postal charge records.
Enters, retrieves, and edits records in database and backs up system.
Processes associated paperwork in database to ensure correct departmental charges.

2. Mail processing
Sorts, delivers, and picks up mail to and from post office and interdepartmental sites.
Processes, weighs, and meters all classes of mail using metering equipment and scales.
Operates a folder/inserter for document/check metering and processing.
Processes bulk mail and First Class Presort per US Postal rules and regulations.
Determines appropriate class and accounts codes.

3. Print Production
Accepts and processes print and copy jobs.
Prices and charges production jobs using both departmental charge codes and over the counter sales methods.
Uses oversized printing equipment and press-style printing machines.

Minimum Qualifications
  Experience:
-Questioning customers to obtain detailed information in a business setting.
-Explaining policies, procedures, or rules.
-Independently handling complaints and upset individuals in a business setting.
-Answering a business telephone using knowledge of business telephone procedures and etiquette.
-Reviewing documents and records for accuracy and completeness.
-Accessing data using a computerized records system.
Specialty Requirements
Some positions at ISU may require the following:

-Experience performing several tasks simultaneously while having continual interruptions.
Supplemental Information
-This position may involve dealing with hostile or angry individuals.
-This position requires sufficient speech and hearing acuity to perform customer service work.

Additional Information

ISU minimum for this classification is $16.75/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
