  • Provide creative direction and editorial oversight across campaigns
  • Lead projects from concept through execution with cross-functional teams

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Translate organizational priorities, ministry initiatives, sermon series, events, launches, and special projects into clear creative communication strategies.
  • Determine the primary audience, communication objective, key message, call to action, communication channels, promotional cadence, creative needs, and timing for major initiatives.
  • Develop integrated communication plans that connect social media, email, announcements, digital platforms, promotional assets, video, print, environmental communication, and other appropriate channels.
  • Anticipate communication needs before they become urgent requests and help leaders think strategically about how and when information should be communicated.
  • Bring strong personal creativity to the role by generating concepts, campaign ideas, messaging approaches, storytelling opportunities, promotional strategies, and fresh ways to communicate the vision and activity of Change Church.
  • Partner with the Creative Producer on the development of creative concepts for sermon series, events, special productions, ministry moments, campaigns, and other experiences.
  • Provide creative direction and feedback throughout development, ensuring concepts are compelling, executable, appropriate for the audience, and aligned with the Change Church brand.
  • Be willing and able to personally contribute creatively when needed—not simply assign work to others.
  • Write, edit, and shape compelling communication for church-wide initiatives, campaigns, promotional materials, announcements, digital platforms, leadership communication, ministry messaging, and special projects.
  • Establish messaging frameworks that help ensure the most important information is clear, concise, engaging, and actionable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Creative Media, Journalism, English, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in creative communications, marketing, brand communications, content strategy, advertising, or a related field, with demonstrated experience owning projects or campaigns from concept through execution.
  • Prior experience providing leadership, direction, or project oversight to creative professionals, contractors, freelancers, or cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop compelling messaging and adapt voice and tone across audiences and platforms.
  • Demonstrated creative ability with a portfolio or body of work reflecting strength in campaign development, writing, storytelling, content development, creative concepts, or brand communications.
  • Strong understanding of integrated marketing and communications, including audience identification, messaging, channel strategy, promotional cadence, calls to action, and campaign execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate broad vision, incomplete ideas, or leadership direction into clear communication strategies, creative briefs, project plans, and executable deliverables.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple simultaneous projects, timelines, stakeholders, dependencies, approvals, and deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, digital content strategy, email marketing, audience engagement, analytics, and current communication trends.
  • Strong creative judgment with the ability to evaluate and provide direction on copy, graphic design, photography, video, digital content, and other creative work.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Creative Media, Journalism, English, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in a church, ministry, nonprofit, agency, media, entertainment, lifestyle brand, or other fast-paced creative environment preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when ministry needs require, including occasional evenings, weekends, major events, and high-impact ministry seasons.
