Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support creating and implementing communications strategies reaching internal and external audiences.
  • Provide strategic consultation to executive leaders and cross-functional teams to communicate initiatives with a consistent narrative across a variety of channels using a planful approach.
  • Identify performance measures and optimize activations to achieve success, foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders as a strategic communications partner, and collaborate across the organization to build and protect Wellmark’s reputation.
  • Lead relationships with strategy owner stakeholders, product owners and managers and additional leaders serving as a trusted strategic partner for corporate communications strategies and activations.
  • Think strategically and holistically to prioritize and connect initiatives and messages from across the organization using a planful, consistent approach.
  • Deliver clear, concise communications aligned with brand voice and AP style across communications mediums.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple initiatives to deliver high-quality work on deadline.
  • Set benchmarks and measure performance to continually improve.
  • Understand Wellmark’s products, services and business and be able to incorporate these into strategic communication plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in relevant area of study.
  • 4+ years of communications experience, preferably in the health care or insurance industry, including serving as a partner for senior leadership.
  • Excellent writing, content creation and editing skills in alignment with AP Style. Ability to produce engaging content for varying internal and external audiences.
  • Experience in creating communications plans with defined benchmarks, including gathering and analyzing data and creating reports to showcase performance impact to a business objective.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail. Professional, polished and diplomatic in approach.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and public policy process at state and federal level with experience in communicating business impacts
  • Effective consulting skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to develop relationships of collaboration and trust. Ability to give and take feedback in a constructive manner, and to foster cooperation and collaboration across teams.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong planning, time management, prioritization and organization skills. Adaptable and flexible with changing priorities. Ability to measure, evaluate and refine work processes and project elements in order to achieve organizational goals while maintaining customer and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Ability to stay up to speed on new trends and emerging platforms.
  • Proficiency utilizing the Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred

  • 7+ years of internal communications experience is preferred, including serving as a partner for senior leadership.
