Job Summary

Own the communications engine for NOAA’s Coral Reef Conservation Program, turning program successes into accessible stories and products across websites, social media, and partner networks.

  • Content Creation: Produce multi-channel materials (web pages, newsletters, press releases, reports) to boost public awareness.
  • Storytelling Across Platforms: Manage three social accounts and collaborate with internal/external partners to craft messaging, stories, and GIS-enabled story maps at multiple scales.
  • Cross-Agency Collaboration: Coordinate with NOAA offices to gather successes and translate them into compelling, widely disseminated content.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop content for NOAA websites, newsletters, press releases, email announcements, and handouts.
  • Lead managing three social media accounts (X, Facebook, Instagram) for NOAA’s Coral Reef Conservation Program.
  • Collaborate across NOAA offices to gather program successes and create stories, reports, story maps, and additional products.
  • Develop ideas for national web stories and press releases for the purpose of increasing public awareness and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to generate messaging, stories, and products on coral conservation across multiple geographic scales.
  • Additional job duties include developing and delivering presentations, photography, website content maintenance, graphic design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication, graphic design, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, shift priorities as needed, and work productively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of NOAA programs and operations, coral reefs, or coastal management topic area expertise preferred.
  • Experience with Google collaborative tools, MS Word, and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with website development, social media apps, and web and social media analytics.
  • Experience with ESRI GIS software and apps is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a National Agency Check (NACI), including fingerprinting, and maintain it throughout the duration of employment.
