Job Summary

Lead content strategy and copy for Etsy seller communications, aligning product launches, segmentation, and personalization at scale.

  • Own go-to-market and seller-facing copy across launches, updates, and education.
  • Must-have: 6+ years in product marketing copy for consumer brands, marketplaces, or agencies.
  • Standout: Experience defining a seller voice and tone framework.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own copy execution for product marketing launches — writing seller-facing communications that translate complex product features and updates into clear, compelling, benefit-led content
  • Write and top-edit seller-facing copy across email, push notifications, social, community forums, and seller education content
  • Top-edit copy from junior team members with specific, strategic feedback that elevates the work and builds their skills
  • Actively contribute to defining and documenting our seller voice and tone framework — helping move it from something that lives in people's heads to a clear, usable source of truth the whole team can write to
  • Develop content approaches for distinct seller segments — new sellers, growing sellers, top sellers, international sellers — with a nuanced understanding of how their needs, motivations, and relationship with Etsy differ
  • Partner with CRM and email teams to build personalization strategies: how do we speak differently to a seller based on their tenure, shop category, or behavior, and how do we do it at scale?
  • Design and contribute to content experiments: define what we're testing, why, and how we'll know if it worked — A/B tests, messaging variants, holdout groups
  • Build measurement frameworks for content performance — define success metrics before launch, synthesize results post-campaign, and translate learnings into clear recommendations for what we do next
  • Partner closely with brief owners, PMMs, and designers to ensure copy is grounded in seller outcomes before a word is written
  • Flag gaps in briefs early — if the key messaging isn't there, say so before the copy is due

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in content strategy, copywriting, or editorial strategy — with significant time spent on product marketing copy at a consumer brand, marketplace, e-commerce platform, or agency
  • Deep product marketing copywriting chops — you've written go-to-market copy for product launches, feature releases, and lifecycle communications, and you know how to translate complex product value into clear seller benefit
  • A portfolio that shows range and strategic thinking: not just great sentences, but evidence that you understand who you're writing to, what product they need to understand, and why it matters to them
  • Experience developing or contributing to brand voice and tone frameworks — you can articulate why something sounds right, not just fix it when it doesn't
  • Demonstrated experience writing for different audience segments — you know that a new seller and a top seller need to hear different things, and you know how to find that distinction in a brief
  • Familiarity with content personalization strategies: how to use data signals, seller attributes, or lifecycle stage to make content feel relevant rather than generic
  • Experience designing or running content experiments — A/B tests, messaging variants, holdout groups — and translating results into clear recommendations
  • Measurement fluency — you're comfortable with performance data and can use it to make a case for what to do next
  • Brief-reader mentality: you ask what the seller outcome is before you start writing, and you push back when the brief isn't strong enough
  • Experience collaborating with PMMs, CRM, brand, design, and community partners in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment

Preferred

  • Experience writing for a two-sided marketplace, small business, creator, or seller audiences
  • Familiarity with email and CRM platforms (Braze or similar)
  • Comfort working in Asana or similar project management tools
