Elmhurst Public Library enriches life in Elmhurst for all by providing opportunities to connect, create and explore. EPL’s Management Team prioritizes making all patrons and staff feel valued, respected and inspired by recognizing that everyone has unique interests, talents, skills and abilities. The Technical Services Department is seeking an individual to provide accurate copy-cataloging of materials for addition to our Library collection.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Searches OCLC for contributed cataloging then reviews, edits, and exports completed bibliographic record for addition to local ILS system
  • Searches local ILS database to identify/catalog added copies, new editions of previously held works, and replacements.  Evaluates or assigns Dewey Decimal Classification numbers
  • Processes library material for addition to collection
  • Resolves inconsistencies identified in the local catalog and refers complex cataloging issues to Cataloging Supervisor
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiar with library systems
  • Flexible and adaptable at using various computer technology platforms
  • Demonstrates initiative and attention to detail
  • Able to communicate effectively with staff throughout the library
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to public service
HOURLY RATE & SCHEDULE
  • Hourly Rate - $18.00 - $23.00
  • Weekly Hours – 15 hours
  • Schedule – Flexible 3–6-hour shift schedule, M-F 9-6pm (more details during phone screening)
