Job Summary

Own end-to-end content creation and community activation by finding and turning everyday moments into compelling stories, managing the content workflow, and nurturing creator and community partnerships across multiple DM Plaza venues and events.

  • Lead storytelling from raw ideas to publishable short-form content and formats like interviews and behind-the-scenes
  • Build repeatable processes for capturing stories, coordinating editors, and tracking relationships with creators and communities

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Regularly capture photo and video content across DM Plaza, Desi Dragon, Pearl & Leaf, Meridian Hill, Nature's Bazaar, and other relevant operations or events.
  • Identify stories already happening inside the businesses instead of relying only on pre-planned campaign concepts.
  • Find interesting personalities among staff, customers, creators, vendors, partners, and community members and develop story angles around them.
  • Turn rough ideas, founder thoughts, operational updates, launches, and community moments into clear content narratives.
  • Develop short-form video concepts, interview formats, behind-the-scenes stories, launch content, event content, community features, and other platform-appropriate creative.
  • Film, edit, package, and publish or coordinate publication of content with a bias toward consistent output and learning.
  • Use current, modern tools for video editing and content management, and stay current as stronger tools and workflows emerge.
  • Maintain a practical content calendar without allowing scheduling administration to become the center of the role.
  • Review content performance and use results to improve future creative decisions.
  • Identify creators, local groups, cultural communities, organizations, events, and partnership opportunities relevant to DM Plaza.

Requirements

  • Relevant professional experience in content creation, social media, community, brand marketing, creative production, journalism, creator partnerships, events, or a closely related field is preferred, but strong instincts and demonstrated work can outweigh a traditional years-of-experience profile.
  • Strong short-form video instincts and ability to shoot useful content quickly with a phone or lightweight camera setup.
  • Demonstrated experience creating content personally, not only managing outside creators or agencies.
  • Ability to structure a story with a clear hook, point of view, progression, and payoff.
  • Strong working knowledge of short-form editing, common social media content formats, and current video editing and content management tools.
  • Ability to conduct natural interviews and make non-media-trained people feel comfortable on camera.
  • Ability to turn loosely structured ideas into concise scripts, outlines, captions, or video structures.
  • Strong written communication and copy judgment.
  • Ability to organize footage, ideas, content pipelines, contact lists, and follow-ups.
  • Comfort reviewing basic performance metrics and using them to improve creative output.

Preferred

  • Experience building content for restaurants, hospitality, retail, events, food, culture, lifestyle, or community-focused brands.
  • Experience with creator partnerships or community activations.
  • Strong familiarity with New York City neighborhoods, communities, creators, cultural organizations, or event ecosystems.
  • Experience covering live events and producing content quickly from them.
  • Portfolio showing personally created short-form video and storytelling work.
  • Ability to speak Bengali is a plus but is not required.
