Communications Specialist

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communication plans that align with the parish’s mission and outreach goals.
• Manage media relations by coordinating press releases, media inquiries, and public statements to promote parish activities and initiatives.
• Oversee social media management including content creation, scheduling, engagement, and analytics to enhance online presence.
• Create compelling social media content marketing campaigns to increase community engagement and awareness.
• Maintain and update the parish website with relevant information, news updates, events, and resources.
• Design visual content such as graphics for digital platforms to support messaging efforts.
• Write clear, engaging content for newsletters, announcements, brochures, and other communication materials.
• Proofread all communications to ensure accuracy, professionalism, and consistency in tone and style.
• Collaborate with staff and ministry leaders to develop internal communication systems that keep all stakeholders informed and engaged.
• Support outreach efforts through professional communications that foster community involvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience in strategic communications or a related field within a professional setting.
• Strong skills in media relations and managing relationships with journalists or media outlets.
• Proficiency in social media management tools and platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
• Experience with website management systems (CMS) and basic graphic design software.
• Excellent content writing abilities with attention to detail in proofreading.
• Ability to develop engaging visual content for digital channels.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred

• Knowledge of or experience working within faith-based or community organizations is a plus but not required.
