Position: Communications Specialist

Location: Fort Detrick, MD (Onsite)

Terms: Full Time

Program Overview

Supports the DHA R&D-MRDC Public Affairs Office by providing legislative communications, congressional coordination, research translation, and executive communications support.

Position Overview

Develops high-quality communications products, coordinates congressional taskers, translates complex biomedical research into plain language, and supports executive leadership communications.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support legislative communications and congressional engagement.
  • Monitor legislative developments and committee activities.
  • Draft white papers, executive summaries, briefings, and formal responses.
  • Translate scientific and medical research for non-technical audiences.
  • Coordinate stakeholder input and tasker responses.
  • Manage ETMS2 task tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare executive presentations and communication products.
  • Support Public Affairs Office operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting Government, defense, healthcare, or scientific communications.
  • Knowledge of legislative communications or public affairs.
  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and coordination skills.
  • Experience preparing executive communications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DHA, DoD, Army, or biomedical research experience.
  • ETMS2 experience.
  • Congressional tasking support.
  • Executive briefing development.
