Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead Digital Communications: Manage IUSD’s social media strategy and content, including photography, video, graphics and multimedia storytelling.
  • Tell IUSD’s Stories: Lead editorial planning and content development for District news, feature stories and our monthly publication.
  • Support Website Communications: Provide support for the District's Website Project, helping oversee content, strategy and continuous improvement for the District website and approximately 45 school websites.
  • Develop Strategic Campaigns: Partner with District departments to develop and implement communication plans and campaigns supporting major programs, initiatives and priorities.
  • Provide Communications Counsel: Serve as a trusted communications partner to District departments and school sites.
  • Support Media Relations: Assist with research for media inquiries, and serve as backup to the Public Affairs and Information Officer.
  • Monitor Trends: Track media and social media conversations to identify emerging issues, opportunities and trends.

Requirements

  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations or public affairs.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Social Media Expertise: Deep knowledge of social platforms, emerging trends and evolving best practices, with the creativity and judgment to know what will resonate with audiences and what is appropriate for a public organization.
  • Experience managing websites and digital communications.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects.
  • Sound judgment, creativity and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach.

Preferred

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, political science or a related field is preferred.
