Job Summary

Own the Honors College web and multichannel comms workflow, turning content into site updates, social posts, and print/video assets while coordinating with strategic communications to keep stories consistent.

  • Content and channel ownership: craft and archive text, photos, and video for the site, social feeds, and related assets using WordPress and allied tools.
  • Content production and publishing: write, edit, proofread, design, and publish across print, video, social, and web with daily QA and analytics monitoring.
  • Collaboration and messaging governance: align with the Division of Strategic Communications to ensure brand standards across programs and campaigns.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Communications Specialist I writes and edits communications for a department, college, and/or division under general supervision.
  • Develops and implements plans, activities, and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas.
  • Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms, including digital and physical mediums.
  • Works in collaboration with the Division of Strategic Communications.
  • Responsible for the creation and support of print, video, social media, and web-based communications that promote and are descriptive of the Honors College and its programs.
  • Responsible for developing, organizing, maintaining, and archiving text, photo, and video content for the Honors College website; monitoring the day-to-day quality of web content, including making daily updates to the website-including a transition to Word Press platform; and writing, editing, and publishing social media content as well as monitoring analytics.
  • Tasks will include writing, editing, and proofreading; editing photos, and designing and executing various targeted communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and some journalism, public relations, marketing, or communications experience.
  • Experience using web software programs, such as Wordpress, Canva, Adobe, MS Office 365, Mail Chimp, and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, Advertising, or other closely related field.
  • One or more year of experience writing website content.
