Job Summary

Own a focused communications beat across social media, newsletters, and live visuals with a strong emphasis on editorial quality and independent execution.

  • Social Media Strategy: Own content, scheduling, and analytics across platforms to drive audience engagement.
  • Newsletter & Comms: Lead end-to-end distribution from sourcing to copy to layout and list management.
  • Visual Content: Capture event assets and maintain the shared visual library for brand storytelling.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Social media (70%) Strategy, content creation, community management, scheduling, and analytics across all platforms.
  • Newsletter & comms support (20%) Write, edit, and distribute newsletters end-to-end: story sourcing, copywriting, layout, and list management; other programmatic support duties as needed
  • Visual content (10%) Attend events to capture photos and video; maintain the organizational visual asset library.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years in professional communications or digital media
  • Proven social media management at organizational or brand level
  • Strong editorial judgment for digital audiences
  • Email marketing: Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or similar
  • Short-form video editing (Reels, TikTok) and Canva / Adobe Express
  • Excellent writing and copy editing, long- and short-form
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines independently
  • Professional maturity, detail focus, ownership of product, & ability to work effectively and independently with an eye to deadlines and quality

Preferred

  • Background in journalism or news organization social media management
  • Familiarity with crime victim issues or nonprofit sector experience
