Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Write and coordinate SCAF's monthly newsletters.
  • Develop stories highlighting donors, fundholders, grantees, scholarship recipients, nonprofit partners, and community impact.
  • Write and edit website content, articles, donor communications, appeals, brochures, presentations, press releases, and other materials.
  • Maintain a consistent, approachable, and professional SCAF voice across communications.
  • Develop communications that strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors.
  • Create donor stewardship, impact, and giving communications.
  • Market SCAF funds and charitable giving opportunities, including endowed funds, scholarship funds, recurring giving, planned giving, and other giving options.
  • Support fund launches, donor campaigns, annual appeals, and other fundraising initiatives.
  • Maintain and regularly update SCAF website content.
  • Coordinate email marketing, audience lists, and electronic communications.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, nonprofit development, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to write effectively for donors, nonprofits, businesses, and the general public.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with email, shared documents, spreadsheets, online meeting tools, website management, and presentation tools. (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Constant Contact, Zoom, Canva, Adobe)
  • Ability to learn new database and program-management systems.
  • Proficiency in managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small-team environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit communications, fundraising, philanthropy, or a community foundation.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, website content-management systems, CRM/donor databases, and communications analytics.
  • Photography, basic video, or graphic-design experience.
  • Knowledge of the Stanwood-Camano community and regional nonprofit sector.
