Own and drive end-to-end strategic programs that build awareness, acquisition and loyalty among consumers, providers and partners, while leading cross-functional teams and presenting recommendations to leadership to influence decisions and improve outcomes.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The communications/marketing/PR strategist is responsible for developing awareness, acquisition and loyalty programs for consumers, providers and other business partners to achieve business goals such as reputation management, patient volume and revenue growth.
  • The strategist works with cross-functional, organization-wide teams to achieve assigned business objectives.
  • The strategist is responsible for effective presentation of recommendations and representing the division to a wide range of stakeholders and decision-makers, including Legacy leadership, community partners, external business organizations and/or the media in order to influence decision-making and outcomes.
  • The strategist serves as project manager for assigned programs, accountable from initial opportunity assessment and planning through reporting and ongoing performance improvement.
  • In addition, the strategist leads multi-disciplinary division project teams, ensuring that all team members contribute appropriately according to their skill set, and is accountable for achieving measurable outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field. Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in communications, public relations or marketing, including at least three years in a senior-level role in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Experience in crisis communications, including issues management, executive counsel, rapid response and reputation management, is required.
  • Proven success influencing and collaborating with senior leaders, physicians, clients, stakeholders, and business and community partners is required.
  • Experience developing, implementing and measuring strategic communications initiatives that support business objectives is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to: Adapt to and help lead organizational change; identify communication risks and opportunities, recommend solutions, and support successful implementation. Respond effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments by managing multiple priorities, exercising sound judgment, and communicating clearly during crises, emerging issues and organizational change. Build and maintain trusted relationships with colleagues, physicians, leaders and key internal and external stakeholders. Serve as a strategic communications advisor to leaders by providing sound counsel, influencing through credibility and expertise, navigating complex stakeholder dynamics, and managing expectations. Work effectively both independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and organizational levels. Exercise independent judgment, critical thinking and discretion when managing sensitive, confidential and high-profile communications. Demonstrate exceptional writing, editing and verbal communication skills, translating complex or technical information into clear, accurate and audience-appropriate communications. Develop and execute crisis and issues communications, including rapid response messaging, executive communications, stakeholder communications and reputation management strategies. Understand and effectively leverage a broad range of communication channels and platforms—including digital, traditional, internal and external—to reach intended audiences. Apply systems thinking and an understanding of organizational priorities to develop practical, enterprise-wide communication solutions that support strategic objectives. Anticipate potential reputational risks and emerging issues, proactively developing communication strategies and contingency plans to support organizational resilience. Must be able to participate in the on-call rotation, including carrying a pager and serving on call for one week per month.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in health care, biomed or insurance sectors is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of project management experience is preferred.
