Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and publish clear, engaging content for internal channels, including intranet articles, newsletters, leader messages, organizational announcements, and employee updates.
  • Help manage editorial calendars and communication plans that align to business priorities, employee moments, enterprise initiatives, and major company updates.
  • Translate complex topics into employee-relevant stories that explain what is changing, why it matters, and what employees need to know or do next.
  • Own/publish the weekly newsletter by identifying stories, drafting short articles, coordinating inputs, and maintaining a consistent voice and cadence.
  • Support proactive media relations, including identifying story angles, drafting pitches, researching reporters and outlets, and helping secure earned media opportunities that elevate WCG’s expertise.
  • Partner with subject-matter experts and leaders to develop thought leadership content, bylined article ideas, interview prep, talking points, and messaging that support WCG’s external positioning.
  • Monitor relevant industry news, competitor activity, and media opportunities to inform communications planning and help identify timely ways for WCG to participate in the conversation.
  • Assist with press releases, external announcements, speaking opportunity materials, and other reputation-building communications; own tracking, recommending, and coordinating submissions for relevant industry awards.
  • Support thought leaders and subject-matter experts with peer-reviewed journal submissions and other academically oriented content opportunities, including organizing submission materials, coordinating review inputs, tracking deadlines, and navigating structured submission and review processes.
  • Provide drafting, editing, research, and coordination support for executive communications, including leader messages, talking points, Q&A, briefing materials, and internal updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Two to four years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, corporate communications, internal communications, journalism, or a related writing-focused role.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adjust tone and format for different audiences and channels.
  • Some experience drafting employee communications, articles, newsletters, social content, media pitches, press releases, or executive/leader communications.
  • Interest in building media relations and earned media experience, including researching reporters, identifying story angles, drafting pitches, and supporting thought leadership opportunities.
  • Strong project coordination skills, including the ability to manage deadlines, gather input from multiple stakeholders, and keep work moving across teams.
  • Good judgment, professionalism, and discretion, especially when working with sensitive business updates, leadership communications, or confidential information.
  • A natural curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn; this role is a good fit for someone who wants to grow into broader corporate communications and external storytelling responsibilities over time.
