Drive Ottawa County’s communications internship by supporting social media, content creation, and video production as a student worker.

• Assist in creating timely social content and campaigns across platforms.
• Must be available to work at least 10-20 hours per week.
• Under supervision of the Digital Communications Specialist, contribute to producing high-quality on-brand messages.

Responsibilities

• Provides production assistance at video shoots, including equipment setup, preparation, and shooting.
• Contributes to the development of an editorial social media calendar and campaigns to guide efforts across the platforms.
• Creates timely and engaging written, visual, and multimedia content for social media. Monitors trends and suggests creative applications for County campaigns.
• Proofreads correspondence and other communications materials for spelling, punctuation, grammar, and formatting accuracy.
• Maintains and revises email contact lists and performs miscellaneous administrative and clerical duties.
• Performs other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Applicants must currently be enrolled in an accredited college/university, majoring in media, film production, communications, graphic design, marketing, journalism, or related fields.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
• Essential Knowledge and Skills: Excellent English language skills, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, construction, and usage.

• Essential Knowledge and Skills: Introductory knowledge of audio/visual recording and production and equipment operation.
• Essential Knowledge and Skills: Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and general computer literacy.
• Essential Knowledge and Skills: Introductory knowledge of social media channels, account management, advertising, policies, trends, and best practices.
• Essential Knowledge and Skills: Introductory knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro).
• Must be available to work at least 10-20 hours per week.
• The position is scheduled to begin the week of September 8, 2026 and conclude on December 18, 2026.
