Job Summary

Own the countywide storytelling and brand engagement function, aligning messaging, community relationships, and conservation storytelling while partnering with the Executive Director and Development to amplify fundraising and visibility.

  • Community engagement: deepen connections with Santa Barbara County landscapes and conservation work through authentic countywide outreach.
  • Executive and fundraising partnership: coordinate strategy with the Executive Director and work with Development to drive campaigns and momentum.

Job Description

Own the countywide communications, brand, and community engagement function and partner to fuel fundraising and conservation storytelling.

  • Oversee the communications, marketing, and community engagement team and develop, oversee, and implement strategic messaging and brand engagement.
  • Tell the Land Trust's story compellingly and build authentic relationships countywide to drive broad public engagement and momentum for conservation.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Executive Director, coordinating strategy and engagement, and collaborate closely with the Director of Development to amplify fundraising through communications and marketing.
  • Shape strategy and execute it; be a creative implementor with high standards for design and storytelling.
  • Lead efforts to deepen communities' connection to Santa Barbara County's landscapes and conservation work.

What We DoSince 1985, The Land Trust has worked with willing landowners, public and private grant agencies and other community organizations to protect, restore and manage open space, wildlife habitat and agricultural land in Santa Barbara County by:• Acquiring land and conservation easements through negotiation with willing private property owners, through charitable donation and purchase.• Creating conservation plans, restoration projects, and incentives for landowners. Raising private donations and grants from government, foundations, and corporations to support land conservation.• Promoting the preservation, stewardship, and restoration of wildlife habitat and watershed resources on the land we protect.• Educating both children and adults about ecology, agriculture, and conservation through programs and events at Land Trust preserves. To date, The Land Trust has protected over 58,650 acres of land and has completed or is underway on close to twenty habitat restoration, open space, and trail projects.
