Job Description
Title: Commercial Litigation Attorney
Location: Long Island, NY
A highly respected, growing full-service law firm is seeking a Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its dynamic litigation practice on Long Island. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys handling sophisticated business disputes, working directly with clients, and taking ownership of matters from inception through resolution.
The ideal candidate will have strong commercial litigation experience, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and be comfortable managing cases independently while collaborating with a highly regarded team of attorneys.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload of commercial litigation matters from initial filing through resolution.
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and legal memoranda.
- Conduct and defend depositions and appear in state and federal court proceedings.
- Handle all phases of discovery, including strategy, document review, and production.
- Participate in arbitrations, mediations, settlement negotiations, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Provide strategic legal counsel and maintain direct communication with clients.
- Collaborate with colleagues on case strategy, motion practice, and complex litigation matters.
- Mentor junior attorneys and support staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active admission to the New York State Bar (New Jersey admission is a plus).
- 5+ years of commercial litigation experience.
- Strong experience with motion practice, depositions, discovery, and court appearances.
- Proven ability to independently manage cases from start to finish.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong client relationship management and communication abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven, collaborative environment.
