Together, DISA and WHMO ensure the continuity, security, and reliability of the communications and mission‑essential functions that enable the President and White House staff to operate effectively around the world.

Position Overview: We are seeking a senior technical leader to serve as the Chief Architect for Secure Communications Systems, responsible for guiding the design, modernization, and security of enterprise‑level communications systems that support high‑visibility national missions. This role leads advanced engineering efforts, integrates emerging technologies, and ensures resilient, secure communications capabilities across complex operational environments while providing expert technical direction and interagency coordination.

Salary: $169,300 to $228,000 per year

Major Duties:

1. Enterprise Communications Architecture & Modernization

• Serve as the principal architect and technical authority for secure enterprise communications supporting global mission requirements.
• Develop end‑to‑end architectures for secure voice, data, mobile, and satellite communications systems.
• Establish long‑term modernization roadmaps and guide the technical direction for enterprise communications infrastructure.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as next‑generation SATCOM, secure 5G, edge computing, and AI‑enabled network optimization.

2. Cryptographic Integration & Mission Assurance

• Lead secure system design efforts incorporating advanced encryption, hardened networks, and secure protocol engineering.
• Provide senior expertise in cryptographic modernization, National Security Systems (NSS), and emerging quantum‑resistant technologies.
• Integrate survivability features such as anti‑jam capabilities, EMP‑resilient design, and alternate routing to ensure continuity during crises.
• Develop resilient communications architectures aligned with Continuity of Government (COG/COOP) requirements.

3. Executive Leadership, Interagency Governance & Cyber Integration

• Advise senior leaders on technical strategy, acquisition approaches, and lifecycle management decisions.
• Coordinate with interagency partners to ensure alignment with national security directives, interoperability standards, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Ensure communications systems adhere to zero‑trust principles and advanced cyber‑resilience practices.
• Lead governance activities, chair technical review bodies, and validate architectural compliance across the enterprise.

3. Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450.
4. This is a drug testing designated position
5. Incumbent is required to travel away from their normal duty station to other locations within the continental United States (CONUS) and/or other locations outside the continental United States (OCONUS) up to 30 percent of the time.

Security Clearance:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret- SCI.
