Job Summary

Own cross country, track and field, tennis, and rowing communications and publicity, with a strong bias toward storytelling, stats maintenance, and site updates that support multiple sports audiences.

  • Operations: day-to-day management of multiple teams and serving as a secondary contact for basketball/football duties.
  • Content & Media: write press releases and features, and publish stories that drive visibility and media interest.
  • Records & Publicity: maintain media guides, game programs, post-season materials, and keep the athletic site current with stats and results.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day communications for men's and women's cross country/track and field, women's tennis, and rowing programs.
  • Lead media relations content including press releases, features, and game stories while maintaining stats and media guides.
  • Manage program publicity, website updates, schedules, and posting of results across assigned sports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field by hire date.
  • Outstanding communications skills and strong writing ability.
  • Experience with desktop publishing software such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and individually.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations pertaining to publicity and promotional efforts.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to a two-year position.
  • Sponsorship Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Two years' experience working in an intercollegiate athletics communication office.
  • Working knowledge of Genius Sports/Stat Crew statistical software.
  • Knowledge of Big 12 rules and regulations pertaining to publicity and promotional efforts.
