Job Summary
The Associate Director of Internal Communications will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of transparency, engagement, and unity within Mercy University. This team member will be responsible for coordinating, writing and executing a comprehensive internal communications strategy across all internal audiences, including faculty and staff, which aligns with the university's mission, values, and objectives. The position will align and assist with university messaging that is disseminated to students. The Associate Director of Internal Communications reports directly to the Executive Director of Student Communications and coordinates the internal communication strategy with MarCom managers, the Student Communication Integration (SCI) team, and employees who represent the various divisions and schools across the university.

Internal Communications Strategy
- Develop and implement a holistic internal communications strategy that effectively disseminates key information to internal audiences
- Identify and utilize various communication channels, ensuring the timely and consistent delivery of messages across the organization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather insights and ensure alignment with organizational goals
- Develop initiatives to enhance employee engagement and promote a sense of belonging and pride among staff
- Facilitate open communication opportunities to encourage dialogue and collaboration within the organization
- Serve as the main point of contact and account manager for internal communication requests across all departments and schools
- Oversee the creation of internal content, including newsletters, intranet articles, and multimedia materials that effectively communicate university updates, achievements, and milestones
- Ensure content is timely, clear, compelling, and aligned with the university's values
- Supports other university communication priorities and projects as a subject matter expert
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education, marketing, communications or related field
- Proven track record of coordinating and implementing successful internal communications strategies
- Ability to write and execute internal communication plans utilizing a variety of media materials
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
- Collaborative and team-focused mindset
- Be a proactive self-starter with excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, pivot priorities on short notice and proactively solve problems
- Skills in establishing and delivering strategic goals, defining objectives, choosing courses of action and evaluating outcomes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office a must
- Knowledge of Slate or another CRM a plus
- Experience in higher education or a similar complex organization is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
- This position operates in a collaborative setting with both remote and onsite expectations requiring frequent interaction with internal departments, creative staff and university partners
- Occasional weekend and evening support is required
- Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies
