Lead the organization’s communications and marketing function to advance fundraising, awareness, and community engagement.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications and marketing strategies to support fundraising, awareness, and community engagement.
  • In consultation with Advancement Team leadership, define MarCom team’s workload and scope
  • Oversee brand management, storytelling, and content strategy across print, e-mail, and social media platforms.
  • Oversee maintenance of the Samaritan House website and ensure content integrity and relevance
  • Manage MarCom budget including ad buys, design, printing, and other contractor/vendor expenses.
  • Collaborate closely with Advancement Team leaders and Executive Leadership to ensure cohesive messaging.
  • Monitor and evaluate communications performance and audience engagement metrics.
  • Along with VP of Advancement, serve as liaison to external PR Strategist.
  • Coordinate volunteers’ work when needed.
  • Support, assist and attend general Advancement department and agency events, activities and functions as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or Public Relations, or equivalent experience in lieu of education
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in non-profit communication and/or marketing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a strategic role
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in supervision
  • Experience working with or utilizing project management software (Asana)
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities including strategic communications expertise, brand management, messaging, and integrated communications planning

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven communications, preferably in human services, housing and shelter services, or food security
  • Experience managing or supporting the management of a marketing/communications budget
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and community-centric communications practices
  • Strong project management, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational leadership skills
  • Ability to translate complex programs and data into compelling, ethical, and human-centered stories
