Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Associate Aviation Marketing Manager at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the creation and execution of marketing programs for the aviation market, including collaboration and interfacing with Marketing Managers, Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and Marketing Communications associates.
Essential Functions
  • Assists in developing integrated marketing plans that guide product introductions worldwide including market analysis, competitive positioning, advertising, PR, tradeshows, events, website and key activities over the product lifecycle
  • Collaborates with global Product Management and global Communications teams to define product positioning and messaging that communicate the value, benefits and unique selling points
  • Contributes to the development of marketing and advertising plans in conjunction with Marketing Communications and Sales
  • Creates digital assets by generating compelling product screens that demonstrate real-world capabilities of aviation products
  • Interfaces with aviation customers, dealers and ambassadors using business-to-business marketing and sales techniques
  • Works daily with significant attention to detail to ensure all internal and external product communication is accurate and consistent (including garmin.com, ads, press releases, sales training and packaging)
  • Maintains strong product knowledge across all products in the aviation segment
  • Works with product management and engineering to help define customer/business requirements early in the product concept stage with specific attention to the marketability of each feature
  • Coordinates with the cross-functional teams of Product Management, Engineering, Marketing Communications, IT and other departments for successful and timely launch of aviation products
  • Disseminates, communicates and presents product information such as messaging, value propositions, and positioning (product introduction guides) to stakeholders (sales, marketing communications, distributors, channel partners, and product support)
  • Identifies and supports new areas of market opportunity (multi-product solutions, channel expansion)
  • Assists in product level marketing activities including customer and sales events, tradeshows and conferences
  • Travels and attends industry tradeshows, customer meetings and other events up to 20% of the time or as required by the business
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or another relevant area of study
  • Must possess previous marketing experience in a technical field, or other relevant experience
  • Ability to proficiently demonstrate benefits of Garmin aviation products to customers
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize the Adobe Creative Suite for basic photo, video and document editing
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrates a strong passion for Garmin, including its mission, products, values and success
  • Demonstrates proficiency and strong aptitude for aviation technology
  • Demonstrates proficient Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Must be self-motivated, with exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Possesses experience working with cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
  • Demonstrates effective presentation skills & public speaking ability
  • Experience working in the aviation industry
  • Private Pilot License

  • Basic familiarity with avionics installations
