Accounting Manager (Part-Time Contractor)

Schedule: Part-Time (15–20 hours per week, flexible)

Position Summary

BVRG is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee the company's day-to-day accounting operations and support the implementation and ongoing management of our accounting systems. This individual will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing QuickBooks Online, administering the Ramp corporate card platform, and supporting the monthly close process.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in small to mid-sized businesses, enjoys building efficient accounting processes, and is comfortable working independently in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

• Manage the day-to-day accounting function within QuickBooks Online.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Ensure expenses are accurately coded and documented.
• Support the monthly close process by preparing reconciliations and schedules for Finance Director review.

QuickBooks Online Administration

• Optimize and ongoing administration of QuickBooks Online.
• Configure and maintain the chart of accounts, customer and vendor records, and accounting workflows.
• Maintain integrations between QuickBooks Online, banking institutions, payroll, and expense management systems.
• Troubleshoot accounting system issues and recommend process improvements.

Payroll & Employee Reimbursements

• Process employee expense reimbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
• Record and reconcile payroll journal entries in QuickBooks Online.
• Perform payroll-related account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
• Partner with HR to ensure payroll transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
• Assist with payroll reporting and provide accounting support for payroll-related inquiries as needed.

Vendor & Compliance

• Maintain vendor records, including collection and maintenance of W-9 forms.
• Prepare and file annual 1099-NEC/1099-MISC forms, ensuring accurate vendor classification and payment totals
• Support documentation requests for audits and tax filings.

Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Recommend efficiencies to streamline accounting operations.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online.
• Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.
• Experience working with payroll accounting, including recording payroll journal entries, reconciling payroll accounts, and supporting month-end payroll close activities.
• Experience partnering with HR and/or third-party payroll providers to ensure accurate payroll accounting and reporting.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred

• Experience implementing or optimizing QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with Ramp or a similar corporate expense management platform.
• Familiarity with accounting practices and financial operations supporting international entities, particularly the United Kingdom and Canada.
• Exposure to multi-entity accounting or working with international subsidiaries is a plus.
• Experience in a marketing, advertising, media, consulting, or professional services environment.
• CPA or CPA candidate is a plus but not required.

$47.00+ per hour

100% remote position
