Job Summary

Own the end-to-end academy marketing and communications effort to drive registration and engagement, coordinating content, paid/social campaigns, and cross-channel reporting with academy chairs and attendees.

  • Marketing planning and content strategy to hit registration deadlines and raise awareness.
  • Social media and email campaigns that engage attendees, sponsors, and presenters across DigiCol channels.
  • Cross-team coordination: align with academy chairs, plan debriefs, and report on marketing successes for next year.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Academy Marketing Coordinator is responsible for creating a marketing plan and timeline leading up to registration deadlines, creating a content strategy for marketing the academies, and monitoring and measuring engagement of marketing campaigns. The marketing coordinator will post content on social media and send email campaigns with the goal of driving Academy registration, building awareness, and engaging with our attendees, sponsors and presenters through social media.
  • Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Meet with the Academy chairs to establish goals and timelines for driving registration
  • Share news about the Academy including important deadlines and other updates
  • Plan, create, and run paid social media campaigns if needed
  • Coordinate with Academy chairs for content ideas and announcements
  • Monitor relevant hashtags and online communities for questions and comments about the Academies
  • Respond through the “official” DigiCol channels or through their personal profiles, whichever feels appropriate
  • Maintain and post content to: DigiCol Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr and YouTube accounts
  • Meet regularly with Academy planning committee

Requirements

  • Membership in the association, which can be fulfilled at application. (Free general membership for higher education professionals would meet this requirement.)
  • Experience as a marketing/communications manager for an organization or business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, including best practices and promotional opportunities (inc. targeted paid campaigns)
  • Understanding of organizational branding and how to further it on social
  • Proficient in content strategy theory and application
  • Displays working knowledge of communication and marketing best practices
  • Proven ability to effectively promote a brand using common practices including, but not limited to: audience segmentation in advertising, email communication, and written content
  • Strong written communicator across different formats (i.e. social media, blogs)
  • Estimated time commitment: A Marketing Coordinator is expected to virtually attend monthly meetings.
  • Time commitment varies, with a minimum of 1-2 hours per month and a peak commitment of 8-10 hours per month.
  • Length of appointment: 12-18 months, with option to renew.

Preferred

  • Work experience in a public relations environment
  • Experience coordinating an integrated communications team
  • Previous or current work experience at a higher education institution
