Based in Columbia, Maryland, our team blends strategy, creativity and digital expertise to help brands stand out, perform and grow. We are searching for a new VP of Digital Experience. The VP of Digital Experience is a critical member of Marriner’s senior leadership team, helping shape the future of the agency through the thoughtful integration of digital strategy, technology and data. We are looking for a digitally fluent leader who understands how great digital experiences are built—from the first user insight to the final line of code. This person will guide the full lifecycle of digital product development across the agency, including user experience strategy, information architecture, development oversight, code review, platform integration and deployment. This is not an IT role. It is a strategic leadership position responsible for strengthening the rigor, performance and scalability of Marriner’s customer' digital ecosystems while serving as the agency’s internal and external authority on digital intelligence. The VP of Digital Experience will oversee the recommendation, integration and implementation of digital strategies and MarTech platforms that support the growth of both the agency and our clients. Just as importantly, this leader will embody Marriner’s core values of innate curiosity, fearless creativity, purposeful collaboration, mutual trust and generosity of spirit. This role ensures that creative thinking and technical execution move together—from concept through launch—so that every digital experience Marriner produces is not only visually compelling, but structurally sound, measurable and built to perform. The VP of Digital Experience will collaborate with leaders across the agency to build systems, standards and operational practices that strengthen how technology supports our work and our clients’ growth. This includes leadership across user experience design, website architecture and development, CRM integration, marketing automation, data management and digital marketing platforms. Beyond technical leadership, this role requires the ability to inspire confidence and clarity across teams and clients. The VP of Digital Experience will mentor team members, strengthen digital fluency across departments and help shape Marriner’s point of view on the evolving role of digital in modern marketing. Responsibilities of Marriner’s VP of Digital Experience are comprised of (but not limited to): Team Leadership & Development Directly manage in-house development resources and oversee outsourced technical partners. Establish and enforce development standards, documentation discipline and quality control Mentor team members to elevate technical fluency and digital IQ across departments. Promote cross-functional collaboration between Creative, Media, Strategy and Client Services. Build trust quickly with internal teams and key clients, filling significant leadership shoes with credibility and clarity. Digital Architecture & Technical Excellence Own the strategic architecture of Marriner’s digital ecosystem across WordPress, Webflow, GA4, Looker and HubSpot. Review and guide development work with working fluency in PHP, JavaScript and API integrations Strengthen tagging, event modeling and attribution integrity across accounts. Elevate HubSpot lifecycle automation and CRM integration rigor. Establish structured experimentation and optimization methodologies. Improve development workflow velocity, scope discipline and documentation standards. Identify inefficiencies and redesign processes to improve output quality and agency margin. Ensure all digital builds meet Marriner’s standards for performance, scalability and long-term maintainability. AI & Innovation Leadership Champion thoughtful integration of AI tools to improve agency efficiency, output quality and strategic clarity. Help guide standards for AI usage across departments. Design and implement process modifications that leverage AI responsibly. Explore long-term opportunities for scalable digital frameworks and proprietary tools as part of a 3-year roadmap. Customer Engagement & Market Leadership Serve as the public-facing authority for Marriner’s digital strategy and MarTech capabilities. Lead digital strategy in new business pitches and help close growth opportunities. Develop and articulate POVs on digital growth, MarTech integration and AI innovation for CPG, foodservice and tourism clients. Confidently bridge conversations between CMOs, CTOs and operational stakeholders. Provide proactive digital insight during account planning and campaign development. Agency Growth & Commercial Impact Support new business efforts while protecting delivery excellence. Improve contribution margin within digital engagements through stronger scope management and workflow efficiency. Identify scalable service opportunities within digital, MarTech and data strategy. Collaborate with agency leadership to define and implement a 3-year Digital Architecture roadmap. Contribute to agency positioning as a leader in Clarity-driven digital growth. Financial & Operational Accountability Manage profitability within the digital discipline. Ensure technical feasibility aligns with scope before client commitments. Evaluate and negotiate digital/MarTech vendor relationships. Partner with Media & Performance to ensure strong integration between data, platforms and execution. Protect margin by improving systemization and reducing technical debt. Qualifications 8–12+ years of digital leadership experience within an agency or growth-driven environment. Strong working fluency in WordPress architecture and Webflow. Deep understanding of GA4 event modeling and tagging architecture. CRM and lifecycle automation experience. Ability to review and evaluate PHP/JavaScript development intelligently. Experience managing developers and technical vendors. Demonstrated ability to influence revenue growth through digital strategy. Strong executive presentation and client-facing communication skills. Proven ability to redesign workflows and improve operational efficiency. Marketing agency experience preferred Hybrid work schedule: Must be able to work on-site in Marriner's Columbia Maryland office each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
