Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Communications Director to plan and execute YPA's content calendar, creating and publishing content 3–5 times per week across Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.
  • Edit and produce short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) that connects with Gen Z audiences and supports campaign goals.
  • Help develop and refine YPA's social media strategy, monitor channels, engage the community, and flag trending topics for rapid response.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists covering youth advocacy, economic policy, education, and technology; support media pitching and coverage tracking.
  • Support YPA's newsletter production, email campaign strategy, and subscriber engagement efforts.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations and identify aligned influencers and creators for campaign amplification and outreach.
  • Assist with planning, promoting, and covering virtual and in-person events, capturing content for post-event storytelling.
  • Support the execution of major digital campaigns, including petitions, advocacy pushes, and youth-led initiatives.
  • Contribute to scalable communications systems, maintain digital asset libraries, and research emerging platforms and trends.

Preferred

  • Experience with social media management, content creation, and short-form video production preferred (1–3 years).
  • Lived experience with issues affecting young people is a plus.
  • Preference for a candidate based in Washington, DC.
