Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Create videos, graphics, articles, and share language that best play to each social media platform’s strategies.
  • Write smart, catchy and accurate pieces on a variety of topics.
  • Translate CBS News television packages into digital videos tailored specifically to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok
  • Write trending news stories for CBSNews.com
  • Produce and edit shareable videos and quote graphics
  • Proactively identify stories and social activity trending online and how we can use it.
  • Compose social headlines and share language consistent with the CBS News brand.
  • Identify the most shareable and newsworthy nuggets (quote, moment, etc.) from longer broadcast and streaming segments, as well as articles, then quickly spin them into social assets.
  • Work with CBS News talent, including O&Os and affiliates, to script, record and produce original social.
  • Backfill other team members as needed.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of social media or newsroom experience
  • Deep familiarity with social media platforms, audiences and best practices
  • The ability to write about about a variety of topics in a strong, yet unbiased way
  • Strong writing skills with demonstrated portfolio of published work
  • Strong producing and editing skills
  • Ability to quickly and exactly subtitle video for social, using both editing platforms and the text tools within TikTok and Instagram
  • Ability to work well with others under tight deadlines
  • Degree in journalism, communications or related
  • Schedule for shift: Tuesday-Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET
