Job Summary

Own and drive strategic public relations and integrated communications for WWP, shaping veteran-issues narratives, coordinating cross-functional campaigns, and delivering measurable media coverage and thought leadership through targeted outreach and content programs.

  • Lead cross-functional PR campaigns and media relations, coordinating executives, experts, and partners to secure coverage and advance key issues.
  • Develop and distribute thought leadership content and messaging across press, blogs, speeches, and social channels, tracking impact and audience reach.

Job Description

Responsibilities - Serve as the lead on cross-functional projects to develop and execute integrated communications plans and campaigns. - Partner with teammates in Communications and Marketing to develop and deploy integrated thought leadership strategies and storytelling. - Serve as a communications subject matter expert for assigned projects or portfolios. - Provide guidance and share expertise with public relations teammates, serving as a project lead on key initiatives. - Advance key messages by researching and writing a range of content, including, but not limited to, press releases, media advisories, articles, blogs, op-eds, videos, executive bios, talking points, fact sheets, and speeches. - Identify subject matter experts within the organization, create thought leadership content, and develop and implement distribution strategies. - Plan and execute a range of media relations activities, including media training, media interviews, and press conferences and events involving executives, warriors, and other subject matter experts. - Cultivate positive relationships with the media and secure local, national, non-traditional, and trade media coverage for WWP; exercise sound judgment in representing WWP to the media and external stakeholders. - Build and manage relationships with internal teams and external partners to elevate WWP as a leading voice on veteran issues. - Work with agencies and other external vendors to execute thought leadership and public awareness campaigns. - Track and report on impact, media placements, content performance, share of voice on key issues, and campaign ROI. - Monitor and analyze media coverage and trending topics relevant to the organization and stay current on industry standards and trends. - Identify issues that may impact the organization's reputation and help develop communications plans to mitigate them. - Identify and advise on new public relations capabilities. - Prepare agendas and presentations for meetings. - Assist WWP teams with PR activities as needed for special events, fundraisers, and key initiatives. - Attend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles. - Other related duties as assigned. Requirements - Seven years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field. - Ability to travel, work after hours, and over weekends when needed. - Fluent in AP Style. - Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality. - Unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct. - Mission-driven, guided by core values, and a pleasure to work with. - High energy, self-starter who can think strategically and work effectively with others to accomplish goals. - Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and situational awareness. - Ability to independently manage multiple projects and stakeholder communications in a fast-paced environment; meet deadlines; and deliver high-quality content consistently. - Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, journalism, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
