Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Produce and star in 2+ horizontal videos weekly, exploring a full range of long-form feature formats: product demos, versus, tier videos, reaction videos, and new long-form formats to be invented.
  • Produce and star in a steady stream of short-form verticals, building your presence on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook and Instagram.
  • Plan out all your videos, from simple outlines of talk points to full-fledged scripts for voiceover or teleprompter.
  • Write website articles to accompany every long-form video you star in.
  • Appear as a regular guest on The Full Nerd, Expedition: Handheld and other PCWorld podcasts TBD.
  • Go on location for videos outside the studio, from vox populi interviews with users in the wild, to product demos at CES and other tech trade shows.
  • Test, demo, and offer tips and buying advice for a steady stream of PC hardware.
  • Work with our Head of Consumer Video, Supervising Producer and Editorial Director on all facets of growing our video presence—from researching and applying the latest video platform trends to audience engagement across social media.
  • Set up cameras and lighting, and hand off all creative assets to video editors, for videos you self-produce.

Requirements

  • 5+ years professional journalism, publishing or video experience with PC hardware and software, and related components and accessories. From budget to extreme, from performance to productivity.
  • A deep understanding of the PC hardware landscape, including the latest trends in performance, productivity and gaming, and how hardware is tested.
  • 3+ years’ experience as an on-camera video talent on YouTube or TikTok.
  • A confident, authentic on-camera presence—a natural vibe that’s accessible, authoritative and easy to connect with.
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to convert video-first scripts into compelling website articles.
  • A deep contacts list of industry PC industry PR managers to contact for product coverage.
